Seven Network Commissions Australian Version of Ultimate Escape

We are excited to announce that Ultimate Escape has been developed for the Australian audience by Helium Pictures, and has now been officially commissioned by Seven Network! Based on the hit original series by Rabbit Films, this new reworked version of the format will see teams of Australians race the clock and each other in a high stakes search-and-rescue operation in some of the toughest and most beautiful terrain on the planet.

Seven’s Chief Content Officer for Entertainment, Angus Ross, said: “We’re excited to partner with Helium on this electrifying new format. Ultimate Escape is gripping TV, offering viewers fast-paced, jaw-dropping action supercharged by real emotion.”

Helium’s Chief Creative Officer Mark Fennessy said: “Ultimate Escape is immersive, edge-of-the-seat, big event TV. With a stunning backdrop and teams of unique Australians, this ground-breaking series will be like a blockbuster movie come to life.”

Rabbit Films’ International Sales Consultant Samantha Ferguson, who brokered the deal, said: “We are beyond thrilled to be working with Helium and Seven to partner on this epic adventure-of-a-lifetime and bring this adventure competition series to Australia.”

Ultimate Escape was originally created by Rabbit Films for Discovery+ and TV5 Finland. The first season aired to high ratings in the autumn of 2021. The series was renewed for a second season, which has just been filmed, and will air in autumn 2023. The format also received much critical acclaim, winning the Best Reality Format prize at the 2022 International Format Awards.

The Australian version of Ultimate Escape is set to air on Seven Network and 7plus later this year.

CITY VS COUNTRY NEW SEASON PREMIERES TO RECORD RATINGS!

Rabbit’s long-running game show returned bigger than ever

City Vs Country Finland

Season 6 of City Vs Country has premiered on MTV3 Finland in the highly competitive Saturday night 9pm slot (21.1.2023), and has come through victorious. A total of 682,000 viewers tuned in for the premiere showing of the series! The numbers are even more impressive when looking at the +7 days figures, which take the total amount of views to 1.4 million! City Vs Country season 6 also smashed its own series premiere record of 498,000 overnight viewers from season 5.

To put things in perspective, the amount of viewers equates to a whopping 42.3% Share in the 4+ demo and a 36.1% Share in the key 15-64 commercial target group. MTV3, which is Finland’s largest commercial broadcaster, has a 17% primetime slot average, so City Vs Country overperformed by an incredible 150%! As an interesting detail, the show was a surprise hit with the 15-24 year-olds, where it for some reason scored an unheard-of 59.3% Share. It also averaged a Total Rating of 12.8% compared to the Channel Average of 5.5%, which is an 130% uplift.

These figures not only qualified it to be the slot winner, but also the broadcasters most watched entertainment series of the week!

City Vs Country has been a staple in the MTV3 primetime schedule since its induction in 2017. The series has consistently performed extremely well, with particular success in reruns, where it regularly outperforms first-run series. The series has featured on the Most Watched Shows of the Year lists each year, with the previous two seasons ranking #5 and #2 respectively.
